Smart cities should be "alive" like people.

Liu Xianlin, born in 1939, has been engaged in the research and development of surveying and mapping instruments for 55 years. He has made the "measuring ruler" to the extreme with the craftsmanship of Excellence, and pushed the level of surveying and mapping instruments in China to the international leading position.

He has made a series of important scientific research achievements with little scientific research funds, filled many domestic gaps, saved more than 200 million yuan for the country and earned more than 10 million yuan in foreign exchange. He has effectively promoted the development of the whole industry through instrument development, and greatly accelerated the transformation of China Surveying and Mapping from the traditional technical system to the digital surveying and mapping technical system.

Liu Xianlin said that the most intuitive embodiment of surveying and mapping work is the map used in people’s mobile phones, and his job is to move the earth home. Smart cities can truly "live" through more accurate mapping of the earth, coupled with the interconnection and information sharing of other technologies. "The surveying and mapping industry that surveyors are engaged in should be said to be closely related to urban development. The instruments I personally studied have always served the development of the city."

Break foreign price monopoly

Prior to this, the surveying and mapping instrument market was semi-monopolized, there were no related brands in China, and the prices of equipment related to international brands remained high, so the China market had to buy them at high prices.

Sometimes when the ruler used for surveying and mapping in the wild is not long enough, Mr. Liu will drive to the supermarket to buy a ruler and come back for welding, regardless of everyone’s opposition. He is also known as an academician of workers because of his strong hands-on ability.

Liu Xianlin, who is 79 years old, is quick-witted and cute as an old urchin. In the last Spring Festival, I accompanied my wife to Australia for 20 days, which is unprecedented. After work at noon, he often rushes home to cook for his wife, fearing that she will be too lonely.
